Recent tests have shown that in many locations, Starlink satellites can deliver internet speeds of up to 200 megabits a second – four times faster than the current UK average of just over 50Mbps, said the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport.
Almost every modern job comes with aches and pains. Whether you’re in the trades or you sit behind a desk, some part of your body probably hurts when you’ve finished for the day. Lower back and hip pain are common complaints for those of us who spend all day sitting — especially if we aren’t using the best office chair we can. I used a wooden stool for months. Don’t judge me.
While we can’t give you medical advice on this article, the CNET team uses a lot of different measures to help relieve some of the pain. Our personal suggestions are meant to help get you the best heating pad to help ease some soreness. Most heating pads deliver some joint pain, neck pain and back pain relief — or even help with arthritis and cramps. To be clear if you’re experiencing back pain and you don’t know why, you should consult your doctor. Trust me, you do not want to let random pain go untreated for long.
That being said, let’s have a look at what we use to relieve some pressure.
Pure Enrichment
This is a large heating pad you can wrap around problem spots. I switched to this brand for its more even heating (avoiding hot and cold spots that trouble electric heaters). The control pad lets you choose auto-shutoff or sustained heat until you’re ready for a break. Plus, you can disconnect the cord and toss the soft microfiber pad into the wash to freshen it up.

Sunbeam
I suffer from an injury to my sciatic nerve that just loves to flare up when I sit down too much. Working from home, I tend to find myself getting deeply involved in a project and not standing as often as I should, which leads to some pain. When this happens, I know I need to break out my handy Sunbeam heating pad that I’ve had for a few years now.
It’s super reliable and has multiple temperature settings to control how much heat it lets off. It’s available in a few different sizes, but I picked one of the middle sizes to cover more of my back at once to help relieve my back pain. It has a fabric pad cover, which has stayed clean for the years I’ve used it.

Newgam
During lockdown, I bought one of these for myself to more comfortably work from bed. Then, I got two more to give as gifts to people who didn’t know they needed them. Now I can’t live without this cushy, portable support.

Sunbeam
I grabbed a Sunbeam heating pad because the most important feature in a heating pad, for me, is the ability to shut off automatically. I’m good at taking a painkiller, putting a heating pad on,and falling asleep. Not the safest way to live. So it’s nice to know my heating pad will turn off automatically after 2 hours of use. This model fits well everywhere, spreads heat out nicely and I don’t have to worry about it being unsafe just because I’ve dozed off.

My Heating Pad
I really should spend the extra money and get a corded heated pad, but I don’t feel like I use it enough to be worthwhile. Whenever I get back pain, I use my microwavable pad to help soothe it. Just pop it into the microwave and let it naturally cool on your body. The rice and flaxseed inside it managed to hold the heat for around 10 minutes, which seems to be long enough for my back to stop hurting. Your results may vary.

Huel, the European provider of nutritional products, has sold more than 270 million meals across the globe since Julian Hearn started the company in 2015. Now with $24 million in fresh capital, it plans to do even more.
It’s been a while since we covered Huel, which originally launched in the United Kingdom in 2017 with a low-sugar, plant-based and low-carbon-footprint protein powder product and has since expanded into ready-to-drink, snack bars and hot lunch options.
In 2019, we reported on them when they launched their nutritional bars in the U.S. At the time, the company was buoyed by a Highland Europe-led $20 million venture round, at a $260 million valuation, it raised in 2018. There was even talk of Huel going public in 2021.
Today, much of the company’s sales are outside the U.K., with U.S. “Hueligans,” the company’s loyal fans, representing Huel’s second-biggest market, followed by Germany and Japan, CEO James McMaster told TechCrunch.
The company has now grown to 250 people, including a small office in New York. Year over year revenue growth is 40%, up to $170 million, which McMaster attributes to that strong new customer growth, the ready-to-eat hot lunch product launch (among others) and the company’s transition from solely direct-to-consumer to also retail stores.
“We’re at the stage where having this second round of funding allows us to keep focusing on that growth,” he said. “We are going to keep innovating with new products, and are really proud of where we’re heading. We’re now the business that we hope can be a truly global brand.”
Highland Europe is back to lead that new $24 million infusion, which now values Huel at $560 million. Joining the venture fund this time is a star-studded group of new investors, including actor and UN Goodwill Ambassador Idris Elba and his wife, Sabrina Dhowre Elba, also a UN Goodwill Ambassador, television presenter Jonathan Ross and sustainable activewear brand TALA’s CEO Grace Beverley.
“I’ve been a Hueligan for several years now, starting my journey while preparing for my role in ‘Thor,’ so to come on board with Huel was an easy decision,” Idris Elba said in a written statement. “I believe in their mission to deliver nutritionally complete food, sustainably. We have some exciting projects coming up and I look forward to spreading the message and raising awareness around healthy, low carbon food.”
Meanwhile, the new funding will also be deployed in continued international expansion, with a focus on the U.S. The investment will also support new product innovation, and continued expansion online and in retail stores.
As part of the Elbas’s investment, one of the new projects will include Huel working with them on their climate change initiative to help people eat at 1.5 degrees Celsius, the global warming limit the Paris Climate Accord is trying to reach.
Huel meals fit within a diet aligned with supporting that reduction, and the company “is excited to work with Idris and Sabrina as we’re equally trying to be a force for good in the world,” McMaster added.
Sometimes silly projects catch our eye, and we just can’t resist covering them. Over on Hackaday.io, [solderking] realised that there was a glaring omission in the multi-game management hardware for the game boy Colour. Obviously, it’s too mundane to carry the game boy around with a bunch of games in one’s pocket, and a hardware multichanger would definitely improve the usability. This convenient, pocket-friendly multichanger allows you to dock up four game carts at a time, and with only a little mild inconvenience, spin the whole assembly, lock in a game and load it up. What could be easier?
Constructed from a ridiculous three-tier PCB stack, with a rotating center joint, the assembly is completely passive, with the connections from the ‘selected’ game cartridge passed down a series of connectors before finally entering the game boy via the usual edge connector. The mere fact that this works at all, just shows how tolerant (and we guess, slow) older gaming platforms used to be, and just what you can get away with! Still, it’s a fun build, and it does work, which just goes to show that just because you can, then you should.
We’re no strangers to game boy hacks. Here’s a useful cartridge to help with developing your first program. If the old platform is just a bit too limited for you, then we’ve got you covered with a hack that wedges an iCE40 FPGA and a Pi Zero inside the case, to give a bit more oomph.
